Bitcoin bounces back to post a new record after being forked

And for Coinbase, one of the hottest and most valuable startups in the sector, this week's remarkable "bitcoin hard fork" put the company in the center of a raging storm.

For two years, there has been a debate about making changes to Bitcoin protocol. With the split of the cryptocurrency, Bitcoin completed the roller coaster week.

The Bitcoin blockchain had forked apart, yet only few exchanges are allowing Bitcoin Cash in a tradable format.

The new "bitcoin cash" plunged 30 percent Friday to below $300, while the original cryptocurrency edged higher and approached $2,900, almost triple in value for the year. But the catch is the tradability depends on the exchange where you trade.

Despite this, sources close to the situation said that the users who left the exchange are likely only gone temporarily and expect to see many people return to Coinbase while simultaneously storing newly acquired bitcoin cash in a different digital wallet.

We wanted to give our customers an update on the recent Bitcoin hard fork. In that underlying message, the trade guaranteed to return assets to clients, however no reasonable due date was offered at the time. The ability to withdraw BCH will depend on network stability which is completely outside of our control.

Several exchanges, including popular destinations Coinbase and Kraken, valued a single bitcoin at over $3,000, an all-time high that was up $485 on the valuation a month ago. The enabling of Bitcoin Cash (BCH) has afforded new opportunities in the market, but has also divided the blockchain community. For example, one block took almost 10 hours instead of the ideal 10 minutes. Meanwhile, Bitcoin Cash has plummeted by 8.72% in the past 24 hours and each one will set you back $213.

Those 10 Bitcoin Cash were worth almost $8,000 then. This is because the Bitcoin price has not gone southward after the split, which is normally the case with stock splits. It had, in a day, surpassed the market cap of Litecoin. Given a gathering of crypto-cognoscenti has the will, the aptitudes and tons of registering power, it can summon another advanced cash into reality-and, maybe, even make esteem. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from Seeking Alpha).

The market cap of Bitcoin now sits at $54 billion, up 13.17% or $1.9 billion in the past 24 hours. Please be aware of the risks associated with these stocks.
