Samsung Galaxy S8 Active for AT&T goes on pre-order tomorrow

Samsung Galaxy S8 Active for AT&T goes on pre-order tomorrow

Of course, you lose out on the Infinity Display Samsung first unveiled the S8 line, but the trade off is a device that's built to withstand some abuse.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active will be available through AT&T in the United States starting tomorrow. That sure seems to suggest that we'll see the Galaxy S8 Active land at other carriers soon, though we probably won't hear more about those plans for weeks or months.

The Galaxy S8 Active has the familiar 12MP Dual Pixel camera on the back.

'Our new Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is designed with tested durability and strength to address the needs of consumers who need a more rugged device for their lifestyle, ' said Tim Baxter, President and CEO, Samsung Electronics North America. The S8 Active is powered by the same Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage found in the original.

The current going rate on the phone is about $850, which would break down into payments of just over $28 per month for 30 months - or at least this is what AT&T is offering.

The S8 active will be in USA stores on Aug 11 in either Meteor Gray or Titanium Gold.

We're still waiting on that full list of specs, but from what AT&T and Samsung have given us, this is very much like Active phones from the past. Samsung is also promising a long-lasting battery, at 4,000mAh.

This is unlike the recently launched flagship phones by Samsung.

The release of phones by two major brands on the same day would be a rare occurrence.

The rivals will have to battle it out for the top spot in the market, but Samsung's handset is believed to boast a new design, cutting-edge software and will likely cost less than the iPhone 8.

Another reason why you might pick this over another Galaxy phone is the battery.
