Stock Futures Lower With Dow's Record Streak Under Threat Again

On Tuesday, the stock indexes of Unites States opened on a lower note as investors paused after a recent record-breaking rally, which has helped Dow to notch up 9 straight sessions of record close.

In no particular order, here are seven Dow Jones stocks that will push the average to 25,000.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, inched 0.90 point, or 0.05 percent higher, to 1,640.17. The Nasdaq composite grew by 0.2 percent.

Elsewhere, energy companies fell along with the price of crude oil.

Apple rose 1.60 percent to an all-time high and provided the biggest boost to all three major indexes.

Tyson Foods rose 4.94 percent after the No.1 USA meat processor reported better-than-expected quarterly profit and sales. Tyson Foods (TSN.N) rose 5.7% after the No. 1 U.S. meat processor reported greater-than-expected quarterly profit and sales.

Medical device company NxStage Medical jumped 28.2 percent after it agreed to be bought by Fresenius Medical Care. Henry Schein lost 5.1 percent and Microsoft lost 0.6 percent.

Shanghai stocks were little changed despite the disappointing Chinese trade data.

The S&P's consumer staples index, up 0.7 percent, and its technology index, up 0.6 percent were the benchmark's leading sectors on the day. The Nasdaq rose 27 points, or 0.4 percent, to 6,378.

But Hong Kong continued a month-long advance as traders prepared for more earnings from heavyweights including China Mobile.

The S&P, which is up about 11 percent this year, is trading at 18 times expected earnings, compared to its 10-year average of 14, according to Thomson Reuters Datastream.

The Dow Jones industrial average lost 39 points, or 0.2 percent, to 22,079.
