Oprah's Soups and Side Dishes Hit Stores This Fall

Oprah's Soups and Side Dishes Hit Stores This Fall

So chances are we're all going to go gaga over Oprah-branded food, coming this fall to a supermarket near you. "They mentioned the idea of making nutritious food accessible to a lot of communities that do not have that option", she shared of the line.

The Chicago-based food and beverage company describes the new line, sold under the "O, That's Good!" brand, as "nutritious twists" on comfort foods like mashed potatoes various soups.

The soups include baked potato, butternut squash, broccoli cheddar and tomato basil, while the sides consist of original mashed potato, garlic mashed potato, three-cheese pasta, and creamy parmesan pasta. Now, she wants to feed us, too, with a new food line that will be in groceries nationwide in October.

The advertising creative, from Roberts + Langer DDB, is themed "Love", and was "inspired by Oprah's love of comfort food and her desire to share this love with everyone", Urban says.

"I love healthy foods and eating from my garden", Winfrey said in the statement.

The media mogul teamed up with food giant Kraft Heinz to launch the line after creating a joint venture earlier this year. The new venture is part of Winfrey's partnership with Kraft Heinz (KHC) that was announced back in January.

The line of soups will retail for $4.99; and sides for $4.49.

10% of Mealtime Stories' profits will be split equally between charitable organisations Rise Against Hunger and Feeding America, which help to combat food poverty. Its stock price jumped 189% between the start of this year and August 3, when it was selling for more than $33 per share - up from $6 when Winfrey bought in.

Nina Barton, senior vice-president of marketing, innovation and research and development for Kraft Heinz in the USA, said: "We are thrilled to bring our collective vision to life with O That's Good! soups and sides". Investors "may be betting that Winfrey expanding her presence in the food industry will benefit Weight Watchers", noted Bloomberg Markets.
