#RallyCat: Local man gaining national attention after rescuing cat from field

A St. Louis woman claims she was the last person to see the now-internet-famous cat that ran onto the field at Wednesday's Cardinals-Royals game.

The Australian was feeling good and needed just one more out to end the inning when the small, fluffy cat appeared out of the blue and ran across St Louis' Busch Stadium.

While fans and media in St. Louis were quick to name the interrupting feline the "Rally Cat" and proclaim it a hero, the grounds crew employee charged with catching the animals begs to f#&%ing differ.

Later in the game, Rally Cat was spotted by a fan being taken away from the ballpark in a crate.

The cat was grey, not black, but it was still bad luck for the Kansas City Royals' Australian pitcher Peter Moylan. They got "Rally Cat"-and now baseball has a new hero and meme".

The grand slam brought the score to 8-5, where it remained for the rest of the game. The MLB site has video of the cat (immediately dubbed "Rally Cat" in the game's broadcast) scampering around and either biting or scratching the St. Louis field crew member who finally corralled it. Others are posting YouTube clips.

"I thought, 'I'm taking this cat home". "I looked at Lorenzo Cain, he was like laughing at me, all the players were laughing at me".

Merrifield made it 3-0 when he scored on Molina's throwing error in the second. He bested Cincinnati 4-1 Saturday night with a three-hit, one-run effort over six innings. After a series of events, the Cardinals say it is missing.

Cardinals righty Mike Leake was pounded for 11 hits and five runs (four earned) over five innings. Melky with the huge home run there to give us the lead.
