Taylor Swift just made a powerful reminder to sexual assault victims

Taylor Swift just made a powerful reminder to sexual assault victims

The last witness called by lawyer Gabriel McFarland on behalf of David Mueller was Mueller's ex-girlfriend, Shannon Melcher.

U.S. singer Taylor Swift has described in court the moment she says she was groped by radio DJ David Mueller during a meet and greet. "I heard it from my daughter's mouth", Swift told the jury. Coomer called it a lie. "I did not want her to have to live through the endless memes and GIFs that tabloid media and Internet trolls would come up with", the singer's mother said on the stand.

McFarland asked for the deposition of a former personal assistant of Swift's, Gabby Liddicoat, to be read after Swift stepped off the stand. Liddicoat said in the deposition that Swift appeared to be "uncomfortable" after Mueller left, and was "visibly upset".

Former disc jockey David Mueller has acknowledged that a photo of him with his hand behind Taylor Swift is "weird and awkward".

Her defiant, hour-long testimony came four days into a rapidly moving trial that is scheduled to last almost two weeks.

The pop star was cordial, but direct and sometimes testy while being questioned by a lawyer representing the DJ, David Mueller, on Thursday in federal court in Denver.

"I'm not going to allow you or your client to say I am to blame", she told him at one point. She said: "This is a photo of him with his hand up my skirt with his hand on my a**".

Think twice before starting any bad blood with Taylor Swift because she will not be silenced.

Mueller claims he touched Swift's ribs while awkwardly posing for the photo - an explanation Swift categorically rejected, saying his groping was "intentional".

Swift was confident and assertive in her testimony.

When the possibility was suggested that Mueller may not have been the person who groped her.

So brace yourselves for a lot of back and forth and he-said-she-said.

When she contradicted Mueller's testimony.

Mueller sued Swift and others on her team, claiming they cost him his job and is seeking up to £2.3 million in damages. Swift is now countersuing Mueller for just $1.

"He stayed latched on to my bare ass cheek".

Dent said Mueller groped Swift under her skirt a moment before a staff photographer took a photo of Swift, Mueller and Mueller's then-girlfriend.

Mueller asked Swift why her skirt wasn't ruffled in the picture. "A very long grab", Swift said.

"What Mr Mueller did, like I said, was very intentional and the location was very intentional, and it happened very quickly", she said.

Swift is counter-suing Mueller, alleging he assaulted her.

Swift was 23 at that time while the DJ was 51. "We absolutely wanted to keep it private, but we didn't want him to get away with it".

Mueller has denied that the groping happened at all.

Women who've been assaulted know all too well how hard it is to speak up and accuse their abusers.
