Ezekiel Elliott Releases Statement On Twitter Regarding His Suspension

Elliott announced that he would be appealing the suspension, something in which he has three business days to do.

Elliott has been suspended six games by the NFL for violating the league's domestic violence policy. Any ruling would be considered binding.

Elliot will be able to participate in preseason activities, but with the suspension taking effect he wouldn't be eligible to return to the team's active roster until October 23.

We've been hearing that Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott could be facing punishment from the league office for his role in a domestic violence case past year.

This is a major blow to the Dallas Cowboys season, after initial rumors had a possible suspension at only one or two games.

Elliott's lawyers said "a slew of additional credible and controverting evidence will come to light" during the appeals process.

Most people predicted four games, a la Tom Brady's Deflategate suspension, but this would obviously go a step beyond that, covering Elliott's wide-ranging list of alleged issues.

"What I don't want to do is hurt things", Jones said on August 4, via the Cowboys' website.

Zeke was accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend 5 different times in 6 days back in July 2016. Most likely, the second-year back will miss a significant portion of the Cowboys season.

Without legal charges, however, the National Football League can still punish a player. That probe was suspended but didn't form part of the NFL's investigation.

According to NFL.com, the league is also looking at "multiple" other incidents involving Elliott, although it's unclear what those are. He was allegedly involved in a bar fight last month and got a misdemeanor for a speeding ticket after being clocked going 100 miles per hour.

In March, he faced major backlash after a video surfaced, showing how he exposed a woman's breasts during the Dallas, Texas, St. Patrick's Day parade, without her consent.
