Trump says he was surprised by FBI's search of Manafort home

Trump says he was surprised by FBI's search of Manafort home

Trump claimed not to have spoken to Manafort "in a long time".

Investigators for the special counsel leading the Russian Federation inquiry executed a search warrant at the Northern Virginia home of Mr Paul Manafort, for tax documents and foreign banking records, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Manafort appears to be in the limelight of the federal investigation into alleged Russian interference in the presidential election, and any ties between Russia and the Trump campaign. "In addition, given the obvious unlawful deficiencies, this extraordinary invasive tool was employed for it shock value to intimidate Mr Manafort", said Dowd.

The report, citing "people familiar with the matter", indicates that Manafort has been cooperating with Mueller's team and was the one who three months ago disclosed that the now infamous Donald Trump Jr. meeting had taken place.

Trump called the raid "a very, very strong signal, or whatever".

Manafort switched to Miller and Chevalier - a boutique firm specializing in tax law and complicated financial crimes that had represented him in the past - from WilmerHale, a larger firm that specialises, among other things, in regulatory and government affairs.

President Trump has no legitimate basis for getting rid of Mueller or his office. He made the statements in a wide-ranging briefing with reporters at his golf club in Bedminster, N.J.

He replied within minutes: "If it's what you say I love it especially later in the summer". "Well, I've been reading about it from you people. No, I'm not dismissing anybody", he told the media on Thursday. "I want them to get on with the task".

"We're working with him", he added. Those relationships were the catalyst for him leaving Trump's team.

The President also insisted that no collusion occurred. The Senate Watergate hearings, the House impeachment proceedings and the Watergate special prosecutor investigation were at different stages than today's congressional and special counsel probes. I think that's pretty tough stuff, ' Trump said. "They start with lots and lots of Russian oligarch money coming into Trump's real estate businesses, into his casino businesses, since the 1990s and even earlier". So, I greatly appreciate the fact that they've been able to cut our payroll for the United States. "We see a lot of money pouring in from Russian Federation". It's unclear whether the panel's detailed questions - including whether the President or anyone inside the administration intervened to ensure Kushner was eligible for a security clearance - was answered by Kushner's attorney.

Turley is not the first political commentator to draw a comparison between the Trump White House and the gory HBO series, as former presidential Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore had a similar observation.
