Kisner leads halfway through 3rd round at PGA

Kisner leads halfway through 3rd round at PGA

The second round of the 2017 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte were not completed before the horn sounded.

His three-day total stands at eight-over 221 (71-72-76) as he shared the 68th spot with three others.

Later today, Lahiri will try and gain some confidence for the coming weeks, including the FedExCup play-offs.

Stroud has become the surprise story of the tournament, teeing off in the final paring Sunday alongside tournament leader Kevin Kisner.

Lahiri missed a bunch of putts and messed up a couple of chips, but he did have a great day off the tees, from where he was very accurate.

"I kind of accept the fact that I'm essentially out of this tournament pending some form of insane stuff the next couple of days", Spieth said.

And he can't wait to compete over the final two days of the tournament in hopes of raising the Wanamaker Trophy on Sunday afternoon. Just been these last two majors'. He made only one birdie - at No. 12, the fourth-toughest hole on the course - and shot 73 to fall 11 shots behind. From there on, it was a fight to just hang in.

Patrick Reed (2 under): Reed still does not have a top 10 at a major championship, but he's been nails this week. On the 11th, a tap-in from less than three feet resulted in a bogey and on 12th, he went into the rough and got only to the fringe in three and ended with a second successive bogey. The former world No. 1 has yet to win in what has been a trying year that has included his mother's lung cancer diagnosis. He parred 10th and 11th and over the next, his card had everything except a par. Meanwhile, Kisner had a good look at birdie at No. 17 before hooking his second shot on 18 toward the creek bordering the green. The ball caromed off another tree and left him a hard pitch back to the fairway. After sinking a six-foot birdie putt at 12, Kisner gave one back with a bogey on the par-3 13th.

The Japanese superstar was five-under after 14 holes of his second round before the rain came, and six-under overall.

Matsuyama, who made three birdies in a row before the delay, stretched the streak to four with a tap-in birdie at 15, then sank a seven-foot birdie putt at the par-three 17th. At that stage he was two ahead of Chris Stroud (71) and four clear of Matsuyama. Kisner, toughened by his time on the mini-tours, is a wizard around the greens and he is inspired by how he is hitting the ball. But he double bogeyed 18.

PGA Championship rules dictate that if play is suspended due to darkness, then players who had yet to finish their rounds must return the following morning and do so but if one player's ball is already in play, then the entire group can choose to finish the hole their on - it just so happened that this was Pampling's last hole of the round.
