Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Launched With Dual Cameras And Infinity Display

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Launched With Dual Cameras And Infinity Display

Last night at an event in New York, Samsung took the wraps off its Galaxy Note 8.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 rides on the back of the infamous "exploding" Note 7 devices that were recalled previous year and the company hasn't forgotten that fact going by the intro montage at the event.

The Galaxy Note 8 is the first Samsung phone to come with dual cameras. Taking the the same design language as the new Galaxy S8 series, the new smartphone comes with a taller design and Samsung's gorgeous Infinity Display. The fingerprint scanner has been kept on the rear side of the device, same as the Galaxy S8 and S8+. The 6.3-inch AMOLED screen has a resolution of 2960 x 1440. It comes with a 18.5:9 aspect ratio as well. Additionally, the flagship phablet comes in Midnight Black, Maple Gold, Deepsea Blue and Orchid Gray color variants.

Note 8 sports top-notch features such as 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core chipset with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The 3,300mAh battery is non-removable like last year's Note 7, but it's hopefully not defective and prone to catching fire like that phone. The phone also has a wireless charging support, and yes, there's a 3.5mm headphone jack on board. One camera has a wide angle lens with an f/1.7 aperture, while the other offers 2x optical zoom and an f/2.8 aperture.

Samsung have opened up pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Screen off memo allows users to take up to one-hundred pages of notes as soon as they remove the S Pen, pin notes to the Always on Display and make edits directly from the Always on Display. This is the first ever smartphone to feature this in both the cameras. The all new S-Pen that comes with the Galaxy Note 8 is now waterproof. An 8-megapixel auto focus camera sits on the front for selfies.

Both the device and the stylus are IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.

Months after Samsung lost billions of dollars in a recall of a defective and at times risky mobile phone, the South Korean company debuted its Galaxy Note8 Wednesday, featuring a screen that wraps around both edges.

Samsung also talked about "live messages" which allow the users to send handwritten animated messages to their friends (seen in the picture above).
