Broncos release three-time Pro Bowl safety TJ Ward

Broncos release three-time Pro Bowl safety TJ Ward

Ward, who signed with the Broncos in the team's free agency shopping spree in 2014 that also included Aqib Talib, DeMarcus Ware and Emmanuel Sanders, has been named to the Pro Bowl in two of his three seasons in Denver.

First, we'll look at some of Ward's stats and big moments.

Ward was entering the fourth and final year of his contract with the Broncos, and would have made $4.5 million.

The Browns selected Ward in the second-round out of OR in 2010, and he played his first four seasons in Cleveland.

Against Denver, they had many opportunities, as the Cardinals had to punt nine times. Although his numbers never quite reached that 95 total tackles, Ward was a force to be reckoned with. You always get blindsided by stuff. In that game, Ward recorded an interception and a fumble recovery that all but clinched a Broncos victory.

If the Cowboys could get Ward for, let's say, a fifth round pick, they should absolutely pull the trigger. He was even ranked in the NFL Network's top 100 players vote previous year.

Other than his play on the field, Ward could bring veteran leadership to a young Dallas secondary. However, the very few reasons to drop him must have seemed better for the Broncos organization. Ward, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Reports have surfaced that the Broncos will either trade or release Ward by Saturday's deadline. Getting something would have been better than getting nothing. He's proven he knows what he's doing, but losing Ward seems odd. The 30-year old will now become a free agent.

Facing the same down and distance in the second quarter, Sloter again held onto the ball for too long and this time was sacked by linebacker Philp Wheeler inches from another safety.

Jimmy Garoppolo, who was involved in several offseason trade rumors, is staying put for now and will continue to serve as the primary backup to four-time Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady.

Simmons and fellow Parks both counted Ward as a mentor.

Unfortunately, the news doesn't appear to be fake and Ward's days in Denver are numbered. I think that will happen. Someone will come running in to sign him. "We've played well on defense".

EAGLES: Philadelphia is going with two quarterbacks after releasing Matt McGloin and Dane Evans, even though backup Nick Foles didn't play in the preseason with an elbow injury.

Preseason MVP quarterback Kyle Sloter was also released by the Broncos on Saturday.
