8 killed, others wounded after shooting in Plano home

Two others at the home were hospitalized, and the police officer was not injured.

As reported by The Guardian, in the house party, people were watching a Dallas Cowboys football match in the neighbourhood. Police are now investigating the motive.

Once inside the home, police found nine gunshot victims.

The assailant too was shot dead by police, bringing the total number of deceased to eight.

All of the victims were adults, but no identities have been released.

The relationship between the shooter and the victims hasn't been revealed yet.

A nearby officer heard gunfire and responded, The Dallas Morning News reports. Police say an officer killed the suspect.

When the first officer arrived, he confronted the suspected shooter inside the home, opened fire and killed the suspect.

Tilley did not know the total number of people who had attended the gathering.

The Texas Ranger Division of the Texas Department of Public Safety was also on the scene, Tilley told USA Today. An eyewitness told local media that she heard as many as 40 gunshots coming from the home.

An investigation is ongoing.
