Miss America Contestants Take on Trump Over Paris Climate Accord, Charlottesville

She criticized President Donald Trump for pulling out of the Paris climate change agreement. She is the official hostess for the State of Louisiana and spokesperson for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, Vantage Health Plan, Propane Dealers of Louisiana and the Louisiana Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.

Shields tweeted out her support and excitement for the new Miss America minutes after passing along the crown.

Finalists for the 2018 Miss America Pageant were asked a number of questions during the question and answer segment on Sunday that centered on President Donald Trump's policies and statements, including whether or not he is guilty of collusion with Russian Federation.

"I do believe it's a bad decision". 'Once we reject that, we take ourselves out of the negotiation table and that's something that we really need to keep in mind'.

Following the pageant's tradition, the panel of judges asked contestants some tough questions, and this year they were mostly political - thanks to the politically-charged climate in Trump's America.

When she was 14 years old, Mund created an annual Make-A-Wish fashion show in North Dakota and worked to raise almost $80,000 for Make-A-Wish children - a charitable act so great, President Barak Obama took notice.

'It's important to have a woman's perspective, ' Mund, who had an internship in the U.S. Senate with Senator John Hoeven, told the AP. "I think the answer is to relocate them into museums", she said.

During an offstage interview, she made it clear she wasn't concerned about what the judges or the climate change denying chief of the country thought of her response.

Rounding out the Top 7 were Miss Louisiana, Laryssa Bonacquisti, Miss New Jersey, Kaitlyn Schoeffel, Miss District of Columbia, Briana Kinsey, Miss Alabama, Jessica Procter, and Miss Texas, Margana Wood. It was the first time in the history of the pageant that a contestant from North Dakota was awarded the crown.

Mund, 23, was one of 51 contestants in the pageant, representing the 50 United States and the District of Columbia.

In addition to the newly crowned Miss America's prizes, the second place winner takes home a $25,000 scholarship, the third place winner wins a $20,000 scholarship, and the fourth place winner takes home a $10,000 scholarship. Cara Mund will be on tour every month to promote her advocacy, which is the Make A Wish - Passion with Fashion.
