School officials arrested over seven-year-old boy's murder

School officials arrested over seven-year-old boy's murder

Three trustees of Ryan International Schools on Monday moved the Bombay High Court seeking anticipatory transit bail to move an appropriate court in Haryana in connection with a child's murder at their Gurugram school, official sources said here.

A report by the special investigation team pointed out several serious security lapses at the school.

"Francis Thomas and Jeyus Thomas were arrested under the Juvenile Justice Act", the police officer said.

The boy's father, Barun Chandra Thakur, approached the Supreme Court, seeking a CBI probe into the murder.

Incidentally, in a letter dated 30 March 2017, Dr A.F. Pinto, chairman of the Ryan group, addressing Class 10 students, had said, "During your schooling with us, you have been constantly motivated, guided and instilled values to become a responsible citizen and global leader". There have been multiple cases and more tragedy seems waiting to happen as there are no radical changes that have taken place despite so many incidents in schools being reported.

One after another, many shocking details of carelessness and apathy is coming out of the Gurugram school where the cold-blooded murder of 7-year-old Pradyuman has shaken the core of every parent whose child is going to a school.

Parents were also seen assembling outside other schools discussing the issue of security of students, after two such recent incidents.

According to reports, the toilet is shared by students, as well as bus drivers, conductors and class four employees of the school.

At least 50 people, including nine journalists, were injured on Sunday when police baton-charged a group of protesters in front of the school building.

A batch of lawyers had told the Supreme Court that private schools are not implementing guidelines to ensure the safety of students.

An SIT team has reached Mumbai to interrogate school CEO Ryan Pinto and director Albert Pinto.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Simardeep Singh, who is also officiating Commissioner of Police in Gurugram, late on Friday night disclosed that Ashok Kumar, bus conductor of Ryan International School, has been arrested. Angry over the killing, a mob partially vandalised the school office and shouted slogans against its management, following which heavy police force was deployed at the campus.

Unless a very strong case is made out against them too other schools will not take this issue seriously.
