Cardinals' David Johnson Could Miss 'Half the Season' With Sprained Wrist

Cardinals' David Johnson Could Miss 'Half the Season' With Sprained Wrist

The Arizona Cardinals placed running back David Johnson on injured reserve Tuesday amid reports that he will undergo surgery to fix a dislocated wrist.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the running back is visiting with specialists and could opt to have surgery.

Johnson is sure to miss at least a few games, and a wider possible timeline of 3-4 months would be in line to sideline him for the rest of the regular season.

After leaving Sunday's game against the Lions in the third quarter, Johnson's x-rays came back negative. The ground game was never able to gain any traction against the Lions front seven, only mustering 23 yards on 11 carries.

The run defense, which was anchored by new veteran nose tackle Al Woods, actually held talented Rams running back Todd Gurley to just 40 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries (2.1 ypc avg). Kerwynn Williams and Johnson could wind up splitting work in the running back spot.

The 25-year-old Johnson appeared to get injured while making a 24-yard reception in the third quarter. The timetable for Logan's return was eight to 12 weeks.

Trumaine Johnson easily stepped in front of a deep out that spent too long in the air and returned it 39 yards for the Rams' opening touchdown. Johnson was one of the top running backs in the league last season, carrying the pigskin 293 times for 1,239 yards and 16 touchdowns while also hauling in 80 receptions for 879 yards and four scores. He played in one game last season with the Cardinals after spending the first 14 weeks of the season on the team's practice squad.

Scandrick suffered a hand injury during Sunday night's win over the New York Giants, and owner Jerry Jones confirmed after the game that the cornerback has a fracture in his hand.
