Clemson stays in US News' Top 25 National Public University list

The Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi and Bombay are among the top 200 universities in the world, according to a survey by QS Top Universities for 2018. "We are very proud of that status and find it to be one of our primary attractions for our new and transfer students".

Even as UCLA has consistently been rated as a top 20 university worldwide, it has existed in the shadow of its big sister campus, Berkeley, which has long stood alone as the globe's best public school. Among public universities, NC State was ranked 33rd, up from 38th.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln ranked 58th among public universities in the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings, dropping seven spots from a year ago.

Clemson University once again is ranked among the top universities in the country by U.S.News & World Report.

The U.S. News rankings methodology focuses on academic excellence, with schools evaluated on hundreds of data points and up to 15 measures of academic quality.

"It is great to see the U.S. News & World Report ranking continue to gradually improve, reflecting Cornell's continued dedication to our students", said Colleen Murphy, vice president for enrollment and dean of admission. During the 2016-17 school year, Cornell held a rank of 90.

Misericordia University has climbed 26 places in the rankings since 2007.

The 2018 data include information on more than 1,800 US universities and colleges, with Princeton University in New Jersey taking the No. 1 spot for the seventh consecutive year in Best National Universities. High school counselor ratings of colleges are also factored in the National Universities and National Liberal Arts Colleges rankings. Among all public and private universities, the College of Engineering is ranked 61st, up two places from a year ago. Then, colleges are ranked against the other schools in the same category.

The school, which opened its doors in 2005, also has been touted by its leaders as being among the best colleges in the nation for graduation rates and for first-generation and underrepresented students.

In August, Kentucky Wesleyan was recognized by Princeton Review as a "Best in the Southeast" school for the 14th consecutive year. The University increased its vaunted first-year student retention rate, which is above the national average.
