No nuclear weapons in South Korea, says President Moon

No nuclear weapons in South Korea, says President Moon

North Korea has threatened to sink Japan and reduce the United States to "ashes and darkness" for leading the latest UN Security Council sanctions imposed on the country.

The Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, a North Korean group that manages the nation's worldwide relations and propaganda, called for disbandment of the UN Security Council, calling it "a tool of evil" consisting of "money-bribed" countries operating on the wishes of the United States.

On Monday, the Security Council passed a US-drafted resolution banning textile exports and restricting shipments of oil products, with the support of North Korea's only ally China.

"The four islands of the [Japanese] archipelago should be sunken into the sea by the nuclear bomb of Juche", the committee said, in a statement carried by official KCNA news agency.

"I believe what President Trump wanted to say was that, not only South Korea and the U.S., but also China and Russian Federation all together need to respond very firmly against North Korea's nuclear provocations", he said.

In the latest threat from the North, the Kim Jong-Un run regime also accused Japan of "dancing to the tune" of the United States, and called South Korea "traitors and dogs" of the US. "Our army and people's resentment at the South Korean puppet regime is getting stronger", the statement said.

Tensions on the Korean Peninsula are rapidly mounting with North Korea continuing its missile and nuclear tests and the US, South Korean and Japanese holding drills in the area.

The Unification Ministry said Thursday that the government will soon review the donation of some eight million US dollars through United Nations agencies. Let's reduce the USA mainland into ashes and darkness, ' a statement released by news agency KCNA said.

Yoshihide Suga, Japan's top government spokesman, told reporters in Tokyo on Thursday that North Korea's latest threat was an abominable provocation. Together with China, Russia has repeatedly proposed a double-freeze plan, calling for the simultaneous suspension of Pyongyang's nuclear and ballistic missile tests and a halt in joint US-South Korea military exercises.

"This announcement is extremely provocative and egregious".

Still, South Korea's Unification Ministry is considering providing $8 million in humanitarian aid to North Korea through global organizations such as UNICEF, Yonhap News reported Thursday, citing the ministry.

In response to sanctions imposed by the United Nations, the hermit nation warned they will nuke Japan and reduce the U.S. "to ashes and darkness".

Putin iterated that North Korea is not going to give up its nuclear arsenal, regardless of how many sanctions are imposed on it.

Juche "is the North Korea's ruling ideology that mixes Marxism and an extreme form of go-it-alone nationalism preached by state founder Kim Il-sung, the grandfather of the current leader, Kim Jong-un", the Reuters news agency reported. Although the latest sanctions are not as tough as what the USA had sought, they are expected to have a significant impact.
