Trump Visits Irma Damaged Florida

Trump, standing alongside Scott and other Florida officials, said he knows that "at a certain point it ends for you and we can't let it end".

However, some scientists have found that the effects of global warming - namely warmer oceans and hotter air - can intensify hurricane formation and result in higher rainfall, though just how much those factors might affect the storms remains uncertain.

He is set to tour the cities of Naples and Fort Myers.

Top Trump administration officials have repeatedly dodged questions about how climate change affected the damage done by hurricanes Harvey and Irma, saying the issue should be discussed at a later date.

Trump tweeted on Thursday.

The president, wearing a white baseball cap with "USA" written on it, later visited Naples, near where Irma first reached the U.S. mainland on Sunday, handed out sandwiches to resident at a feeding station under a blue shade pavilion. Almost 2.7 million homes and businesses - about one in four Florida customers - are without power.

It was reported that a quarter of homes in the Florida Keys - a series of low-lying islands - were destroyed in the hurricane.

He vowed to return to the state, where millions of residents remain without power and areas remain inaccessible to recovery crews.

Mr. Trump said in regards to offering protections to "Dreamers" he said the administraiton is not looking at offering citizenship or amnesty, but that the White House wants to "do something".

"The job he's done is incredible", Trump said, adding that he's unsure if Scott will challenge Democratic Sen.

"I hope this man right here, Rick Scott, runs for the Senate", Trump said.

"We're not done today", Scott pledged.

Trump also thanked rescue and aid workers dealing with the storm's aftermath, calling them "amazing people". Marco Rubio and state Attorney General Pam Bondi as well as FEMA Administrator Brock Long. He wore a white United States of America cap and a dark windbreaker as temperatures climbed into the 90s.
