BMW Championship: Lahiri at tied-35 at halfway stage

BMW Championship: Lahiri at tied-35 at halfway stage

Fowler also finished with a rush, picking up five strokes in the final six holes for a 64 and joining Day at 13-under 129, while first round leader Marc Leishman was still on the course.

Day's 13-under total leaves him with a share of the clubhouse lead alongside world No.10 Rickie Fowler (64) and countryman Leishman, who has picked up four shots through 12 holes. "Seeing the last two days, I know I still have it in myself to be able to hit the correct shots and go out there and try and win".

Fellow Australian and final group playing partner Jason Day, the 2015 BMW victor, is one-under for the day in outright third at 14-under.

Day actually has made three bogeys under ideal scoring conditions, but he has compensated with five birdies and an eagle in 14 holes.

"It's very quick down there so I just wanted to get something just landing on the green", he said.

The 29-year-old came back from three bogeys to put in another spectacular performance with an eagle on the 14th, ending round two with a six-under 65.

It's easy to overlook Leishman because the Australian has only two PGA Tour victories, including the Arnold Palmer Invitational earlier this year. Last time I was here I was five shots better [after 36 holes]. "That's the main goal".

The popular Northern Ireland golfer, now world No 6, will be looking for his first victory in the prestigious European Tour event, having finished runner-up in 2009, 2011 and 2014.

Spieth heads the FedExCup standings -- and the race for the $US10 million ($F20m) bonus awarded to the overall season champion -- with only next week's Tour Championship in Atlanta remaining after this week.

Cantlay is playing his 11th tournament this year, yet he is No. 41 in the FedEx Cup and could get into the Tour Championship if he finishes in the top 30 after this week.

Marc Leishman left his clubs in the garage during his week break from the FedEx Cup playoffs and it didn't make a difference. "I think everything's coming in bunches right now".

On the seventh hole, Leishman chipped in beautifully before rolling the ball in on the long green for a birdie, before repeating the trick, putting in from beyond the fringe on the eighth.
