Gurgaon woman caught slapping Army jawan repeatedly in video, held

The Junior Commissioned Officer had registered a complaint on Wednesday, days after the incident near Vasant Kunj on 9 September.

Kalra, who received major backlash on social media for assaulting a soldier, was produced in the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Lovleen, who granted her bail, Additional DCP (South), Chinmoy Biswal was quoted by Deccan Chronicle as saying.

The video of the incident has gone viral on social media with many netizens criticising the behaviour of the woman.

According to him, the woman had suddenly stopped her TATA Indica auto, walked up and started hitting him.The soldier did not resist and just kept asking her the reason.

In his complaint, the army subedar alleged that the auto was being driven ahead of them by Kalra in a zig-zag manner.

The constable then stopped the truck after which the subedar asked him to talk to Kalra. The Army group claimed that she similarly held him by his collar and slapped him too. "She kept blocking the way as we tried to overtake her vehicle, ' alleged one of the men in the FIR". As the army jawans got down from the truck, the woman sped away in her vehicle.

The action was taken after the Indian Army reported 44-year-old Smriti Kalra, who is a resident of Gurugram, to the Delhi police.

Kalra got off from her auto while continuing to hurl abuses.

Upon enquiry, JCO Mahavir Singh confirmed that while he was on his way towards Delhi's Nizamuddin Railway station on September 9, a woman pulled her auto over in front of their vehicle, forcing them to stop.

The army subedar has now submitted a video recording of the incident to the police. The police have also seized her auto.
