Roy Hodgson sets sights on Crystal Palace survival

Roy Hodgson sets sights on Crystal Palace survival

The former Liverpool manager said the division had "evolved" in the five years since he was last a Premier League boss but he remains convinced he will lead Palace to safety.

"I don't honestly believe that there is necessarily a lot that needs to be done", he told Palace TV.

Fifty-one years after that rejection, Hodgson has stepped back into management, taking the Selhurst Park reins after Frank De Boer's chaotic, pointless and scoreless four-game Premier League tenure.

Torrential rain began to fall as Palace committed more men forward, allowing Southampton the chance to exploit the slick surface on the counter-attack through Shane Long and Nathan Redmond.

"As far as I am concerned, it is, Crystal Palace, Crystal Palace, Crystal Palace, it's everyone at the club, hierarchy, players, chairman and owners and most importantly perhaps of all, the fans". "That's a very hard start: we are playing three of the very top teams in the league", admitted Hodgson.

It was his first time in the dugout since resigning as England manager last June after losing to Iceland at Euro 2016.

After penning the deal, Hodgson said, "This is very much the club of my boyhood and I remember in my youth watching the club from the terraces at the Holmesdale Road end which gave me such fond memories". We won't be lying down but, realistically, when you look at these three games, people will say 'how can you win them?' That's up to us.

Palace were playing for the first time under new manager Hodgson but were reeling in the sixth minute when Davis steered the ball into the bottom corner after home goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey beat out a low right cross from Dusan Tadic.

Hodgson's first duty is to deliver the Palace to the game in the fifth week entertain Southampton at Selhurst Park on Saturday (16/09/2017) afternoon tomorrow. "The only thing that will get you a good start is a performance where you score more goals against the opposition and we certainly didn't do that today".

With all that being said, I am predicting this game to be a win for Southampton.
