West Indies set to tour Pakistan for T20 series

Since then the country has only played minor global matches on home soil against Zimbabwe, Kenya and Afghanistan.

He gave this assurance of the tour during a news conference along with Chairman, Pakistan Cricket Board, Najam Sethi on Friday night at the Gadaffi stadium here.

The ICC provided and funded security resources for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the three-match series, which Pakistan won 2-1, and ICC's head of media and communication, Sami ul Hassan, says that ICC will continue to contribute towards the revival of worldwide cricket in Pakistan. "I've never been part of a game where there's been so much emotions and appreciativeness from the crowd, when they are cheering you as if you are playing at your own home crowd, so that's very good to be part of".

He also added; "I just loved seeing emotions on people's faces, that's the thing that stands out for me", he said when asked about his fondest memory of the tour, adding that he also loved the food in Pakistan.

In 2009, eight people were killed when a bus carrying the Sri Lanka team was sacked upon by gunmen before the third day of the second test in Lahore. Aerial monitoring of Gaddafi stadium and the hotel where World XI players were staying, was done by law enforcement agencies.

The likes of Darren Sammy were paid up to $50,000 for the PSL final. The cricketer even appreciated the hospitality he received in Pakistan.

The Sri Lankan cricket board has also announced that they will send their players for a single T20 match on the condition of successful completion of this World XI series. The all-rounder was honoured along with his former teammate Misbah-ul-Haq. Along with him Shahid Afridi too was on the ground.

"The ICC has already agreed to invest in security and improving the security capabilities for a three-year period", Richardson said, adding that he would like to see other countries sending their teams to Pakistan.
