Monarch Airline goes bust with 300000 bookings cancelled and 110000 passengers stranded

Monarch Airline goes bust with 300000 bookings cancelled and 110000 passengers stranded

"We understand this will be a hard time for customers whose travel plans have been disrupted and we are providing information and assistance to those who have already travelled to the airport for flights that had been due to depart today".

Monarch Airlines has confirmed that it is ceasing operations and going into administration immediately, leaving 110,000 customers overseas causing the cancellation of over 300,000 future bookings.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Department for Transport say they are now working to organise the return of 110,000 Monarch customers who are currently overseas.

This is the UK's largest ever airline to enter administration.

The CAA says customers now overseas should check for confirmation of their new flight details, which will be available a minimum of 48 hours in advance of their original departure time.

The airline has been placed into administration and will bring Monarch customers back the United Kingdom over the next fortnight over specially chartered planes.

The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said it had launched an emergency repatriation program at the government's request to bring Monarch customers home over the next fortnight, chartering 30 airliners for the operation.

The CAA said on Twitter: "Some disruption is inevitable in these extraordinary circumstances; please bear with us as we do our very best to help".

KPMG has announced the collapse of Monarch airlines on Monday morning, cancelling all further flights from the UK.

If you are a Monarch customer here's what you need to know about getting a flight home or how you can get a refund for your cancelled future booking.

The company employs about 2,750 predominantly UK-based staff and reported a 291 million pounds loss past year, a BBC report said.

Whilst you might expect all the flight-related outrage to be directed at Monarch today (October 2), easyJet has somehow managed to stumble into the furore.

If airport transfers were included as part of a holiday booking, they will be rearranged to meet passengers' new flights, with information provided in-resort.

Airline and holiday operator Monarch, which employs more than 2,000 staff, has collapsed, with all flights grounded.

Monarch Airlines has entered administration after suffering a reported £291m loss a year ago. When you come to scheduled day of departure you can go along to the airport and come home that way,"he added".
