Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition announced, to be released on January 16th

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition announced, to be released on January 16th

Capcom revealed the new version of Street Fighter 5 today, promising fixes for numerous game's most-bemoaned oversights (namely, the eponymous addition of an actual Arcade Mode). This coincides with reports from fans that have recently spotted a game listing titled "Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition" on Amazon's website. That won't be the case, though, as all owners of the current edition Street Fighter V will receive all of the Arcade Edition extras through a free update. The stand-alone version, which will also include all of the DLC characters released in the game's first two seasons, will retail for $39.99. In Extra Battle Mode, a new series of time exclusive challenges will be available for players to use their Fight Money for the chance to receive an exclusive premium outfit each month. How do you feel about Street Fighter V today?

Elsewhere, the fighting game community can expect a redesigned user interface and other improvements in the visual department.

Extra Battle - complete timed challenges to obtain exclusive costumes throughout 2018. If a player wants to jump in with Arcade Edition, it'll run them $39.99 Dollars and will include all aforementioned content. Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is expected to launch on January 16th.

The biggest of these features is the long-awaited addition of an arcade mode to the game.

Capcom announced that the initial version of the game will be the only one players need to purchase. When it does release, it is expected to ship with cross-play support for PS4 and PC players.

Existing Street Fighter 5 owners can get the update for free.

Arcade mode - choose from six different paths themed after classic Street Fighter games 2. This is a major upgrade, and it'll no doubt change how the game is played when you can pick between different V-triggers.
