Miami ends seven-game skid against Florida State

Miami ends seven-game skid against Florida State

Both times, the Hurricanes sped down the field behind junior quarterback Malik Rosier to go ahead. And those numbers account for the game's final offensive flurry, when Blackman found his favorite target Auden Tate from 20 yards out with 1:24 to go for the go-ahead score and Rosier responded with a 75-yard drive of his own to retake the lead, threading a flawless back-shoulder pass to Darrell Langham for a 23-yard touchdown with six seconds left. The last few seasons they've been beaten by the Noles and it's caused their to go down the tubes coming down the stretch.

Head coach Jimbo Fisher was complimentary of both teams, congratulating the teams on a hard-fought game.

"When we got them down and it was zero on the clock I think everyone didn't believe it for a second", said Berrios, who had eight receptions for 90 yards and two touchdowns.

Rosier is looking in the right places but is finding his receivers just a second too late every time and is unable to place his passes on target.

A roughing the passer penalty on third-and-15 from the 50-yard line negated what was an incompletion by Blackman and gave the Seminoles a fresh set of downs from the Miami 35. They played without starting quarterback Brandon Wimbush due to a right foot injury. That was critical, because it left Miami a timeout and the chance to take a shot or two at the end zone.

FSU rallied back with a 15-yard touchdown pass from true freshman James Blackman to tight end Ryan Izzo.

His season started poorly, with Aguayo missing his first two field goals, one each against Alabama and NC State. The touchdown capped off an impressive 9 play, 75 yard drive.

Osceola plants the spear before the Florida State Seminoles games against the Miami Hurricanes.

Nobody who watched the first three quarters could have envisioned an ending like this. Michael Badgley's 31-yard field goal on the opening drive of the second half tied it, and Rosier connected with Berrios for a 21-yard touchdown. "We work on it every week", Rosier said. But the fourth quarter will rightly take its spot among the instant classics in the long rivalry.

"Certain techniques you have to take", he said.

In conclusion, Miami must get up their run defense up to par and find more rotational players on the d-line as conference play continues. This one came with a 44-yard punt return by Berrios that took UM to the FSU 21.

Rosier misses Berrios on a slant for what would have been a touchdown, and then can't get the pass to Ahmmon Richards to stick.

The last two touchdowns were all the credit of the Miami offense.

While the FSU defense was so good in the first half, they had no answers for Rosier and his corps of receivers late in the game. "We were trying to stop them. There's no doubt. But we will play".

His recent consistency has been well timed, with the Seminoles struggling to turn promising drives into touchdowns early in their 2017 campaign. But FSU is eighth in the ACC and tied for 47th in the nation in scoring defense (allowing 23.5 points per game) and are not making almost enough big plays: the 'Noles are tied for 123rd in the nation in forcing only three turnovers and are tied for 66th in the nation with an average of 2.0 sacks per game.
