Twitter bans 'inflammatory' Republican anti-abortion campaign ad

Conservative congresswoman Marsha Blackburn is running for the Senate, and her entry into the Tennessee race has gotten more attention than anticipated thanks to a decision by Twitter.

A spokesperson for Twitter told the AP that the Blackburn campaign would be permitted to promote the video if the flagged statement is omitted.

What's more, the Blackburn development follows an awakening of sorts from Silicon Valley, in which it has decided that it won't do business with parties it doesn't like.

Although I am absolutely not writing to make any sort of case for or against abortion, it is worth mentioning that this is not Twitter's first dust-up with the pro-life movement.

The allegations were raised by a series of undercover videos released by the Center for Medical Progress that appeared to show Planned Parenthood executives negotiating the price of fetal body parts "per specimen".

In an email obtained by Politico, Twitter announced to Targeted Victory, the consulting firm running the Blackburn campaign's social media, that while the ad would be allowed to remain on the website, the campaign would be blocked from paying to promote it. Sadly, Twitter and their fellow apologists for Planned Parenthood would prefer that people not be exposed to the truth about the evil realities of abortion.

Donating the tissue is legal, with consent from the woman, but selling it is illegal in the U.S. Clinics are allowed to recover some costs, like handling and shipping.

According to the Associated Press, Twitter told vendors for the campaign that the statement was "inflammatory", and stopped the ad from being promoted on the service.

"Join me in standing up to Silicon Valley", Blackburn's campaign tweeted Monday afternoon. The representative also got to repeat her false claim on Fox News, telling Brian Kilmeade, "Yes indeed, as chairman of the selective investigative panel, the work that our committee delivered stopped this practice of selling baby body parts".

"It is astounding to me that Twitter, which is an important outlet, would choose not only to censor a political ad but that they would censor a pro-life message".

The creators of the video allege Planned Parenthood sells the tissue, but a number of state investigations have failed to find any evidence of that.

"While they doubled down and issued a second statement today- they disallowed my video, I said look, I'm just doubling down on the fact that yes, I am pro-life, and I stand by my message".
