Danny Rose and Erik Lamela return to Tottenham training after injury

Tottenham Hotspur and England left-back Danny Rose has returned to training after more than eight months out with a knee injury.

It is understood that the defender has his eyes set on a move to Old Trafford before the World Cup in Russian Federation in the upcoming summer as he wants to play under Mourinho as soon as possible.

First-choice left-back Rose damaged medial ligaments in his left knee during the first half of a goalless Premier League draw against former club Sunderland in January and later underwent exploratory surgery that ruled him out for the remainder of the 2016-17 campaign and beyond.

Rose being on the sidelines did not prevent Manchester United from mulling over a possible summer swoop for him, but thankfully for Spurs' fanbase his injury halted the Red Devils from making an official bid.

While recovering from his operation, Rose stunned Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino when he criticised the club in an interview and insisted he would be open to offers from other teams because he wants bigger wages.

Rose is contracted at the club until 2021 but is looking increasingly likely to leave. Already this season four different players have operated in the role-Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian, Daley Blind and Luke Shaw.

Left-back has been something of an area of concern for Mourinho since his arrival at United with a number of players occupying the position so Rose would be the ideal long-term solution.

United value Rose at around £45m and are hopeful of concluding a deal for the full-back before the World Cup.
