British IS recruiter dubbed White Widow `killed in USA drone strike´

British IS recruiter dubbed White Widow `killed in USA drone strike´

At Hussain's urging, she converted to radical Islam and abandoned her life in the United Kingdom to join him in Syria in 2013, taking her son, then eight, with her.

Pentagon spokesman Maj Adrian Rankine-Galloway said: "I do not have any information that would substantiate that report but that could change and we are looking into this".

In one conversation with an undercover journalist, Jones detailed the materials needed to make a bomb and said she could help construct a device remotely.

British Islamic State recruiter Sally Jones, the so-called "White Widow", has reportedly been killed by a drone strike in Syria.

Asked about reports Jones' son was killed in the strike, Maj Gen Chapman added: "It is a hard one because under the UN Charters he is under the age of what we would classify as a soldier".

The nickname "white widow" is also attributed to Samantha Lewthwaite- the widow of the 2005 London attacker Germaine Lindsay- who has since been linked to a number of terror plots in Africa.

Jones used social media to try to recruit for ISIS and spread messages of hatred, with more than 20 different handles on Twitter, according to the Guardian, but her online activity stopped in recent months.

Jonesreportedly used an image of herself stylized as a nun and pointing a gun towards the camera when she posted propaganda online.

She and her husband Junaid Hussain went to Syria in 2013 to join IS.

If reports of Jones' death are true, she would be the sixth Briton killed by drones in Syria.

According to the Sun, Jones was last seen fleeing from Raqqa, heading for a town on the border with Iraq.

Former Ministry of Defence head of counter terror Major General Chip Chapman said Jones' alliance with Hussain and her recruitment role would have made her a "significant" target.
