CNN Will Replace Kathy Griffin With Andy Cohen for New Year's Eve

CNN Will Replace Kathy Griffin With Andy Cohen for New Year's Eve

Per The Hollywood Reporter, we can inform our readers that Cohen has officially been named as Griffin's replacement for CNN's New Year's Eve telecast.

Cooper and Cohen have been friends for years, with Cooper appearing on WWHL after Griffin was sacked from CNN's New Year's Eve special.

Cohen will be joining Anderson Cooper on the broadcast and the two of them will be ringing in the new year with all of us this year.

After Kathy Griffin was unceremoniously booted from the gig, Anderson Cooper's New Year's Eve companion will be his longtime pal Andy Cohen, CNN announced on Wednesday. He most recently hosted New Year's Eve Game Night With Andy Cohen for NBC this past year, which averaged a 1.0 rating in the adults 18-49 demo. Cooper said in a statement.

"We're still friends", Cooper told Cohen of Griffin in July.

CNN terminated its agreement with Griffin to appear in its New Year's Eve program in May, after her photo shoot in which she held up a "decapitated" head of President Donald Trump and was blasted both by the left and the right.

During a press conference, Griffin said the "termination was hurtful" even though her photo was immoral.

Now in its 11th year, CNN's New Year's Eve show is a global celebration featuring contributions from CNN correspondents across the country and around the world.
