Ozil, Sanchez could leave in January - Wenger

Ozil, Sanchez could leave in January - Wenger

The Chile worldwide is out of contract next summer, with no sign he will extend his current deal with Arsenal.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the club are in talks to extend Mesut Ozil's contract.

"I have always said that the fact we didn't find an agreement past year doesn't mean the player will necessarily leave".

Both players look happy here and overall I hope the situation can be turned around'.

The Gunners face Watford in their first game after the worldwide break on Saturday lunchtime, but they are dealing with something of an injury crisis.

'It is possible, ' Gunners boss Wenger said. "At the present time there is no deal close for me to announce".

Arsene Wenger has cast doubt over whether Alexis Sanchez will be involved for their Premier League clash against Watford this weekend, after the Chile worldwide received "special treatment" on global duty.

In the short term, Sanchez has to deal with the disappointment of Chile's failure to qualify for the World Cup, following their 3-0 midweek loss in Brazil.

Sanchez was part of the Chile team that were eliminated from the World Cup on Tuesday - in part due to an error for Colombia by his Arsenal team-mate David Ospina - and will be assessed for both his mental and physical state when he returns to England this afternoon. I want what is best for him wherever he goes.

"I will have to speak to him". Arsenal are now six points off the Premier League leaders after signing just two players this summer - striker Alexandre Lacazette and left-back Sead Kolasinac.

'When you don't have the World Cup, you focus on your club'. "I will always appreciate him and I will always wish him the best wherever he goes".
