[Download] Microsoft Edge beta is now available on Play Store

However, you need a Microsoft account used for logging in on your Android and Windows 10. However, as we said it is in beta.

"Due to Microsoft's approach users lack control of their data", claims the DPA.

As explained by Microsoft in its blog post, one of the key features of the Edge browser is its ability to create one continuous browsing experience for Windows 10 users across multiple devices.

"What does that mean?"

According to the agency, the USA firm offers two tiers of telemetry - basic and full. On the Windows Home and Pro versions there's no way to completely turn-off the telemetry system.

But you don't have to take my word for it: You can download the Microsoft Edge Preview for yourself from Google Play Store and check it out too.

For its part, Microsoft's Maris Rogers counters that "Windows collects data so that we can be responsive to your needs and interests".

According to the Dutch DPA, the objective of telemetry is two-fold.

The DPA said that Microsoft does offer users a good overview of what the basic telemetry level is about, but the company describes the full telemetry level in a much more general way.

These data are called "telemetry data". Further, the agency claims that Microsoft makes it very hard for the users to approve their personal data for processing. Microsoft Edge will pull up the reading and information right onto your screen. The company does not clearly inform users that it continuously collects personal data about the usage of apps and web surfing behaviour through its web browser Edge, when the default settings are used.

However, having data collection settings enabled by default and then asking users to simply agree to those settings breaches the European Union data protection requirements for explicit consent. They are not informed which data are being used for what goal, neither that based on these data, personalized advertisements and recommendations can be presented, if those users have not opted out from these default settings on installation or afterward.

Microsoft breaches the Dutch data protection law by processing personal data of people that use the Windows 10 operating system on their computers. Facebook used to do something similar by making users' posts more public nearly every time it updated its privacy policy.

This is the hottest attempt by the Redmont-based company to bump up its presence across the smartphone platform- by offering its apps to Android and iOS users when Windows Phone is officially dead.
