I never called Barca the Messi team - Pochettino slams Guardiola´s Kane comments

I never called Barca the Messi team - Pochettino slams Guardiola´s Kane comments

"I respect a lot what Tottenham have done in the last two or three years".

Kane was named as the Premier League's player of the month of September after a sparkling run of scoring form, but his manager clearly did not take kindly to Guardiola's claim that he is carrying Tottenham on his own.

Tottenham play host to Bournemouth at Wembley this weekend and will be looking to cut the gap on league leaders Manchester City and Manchester United, who have a five-point advantage over Spurs.

Kane had a remarkable period in September as he netted six goals in four games for Tottenham Hotspur after failing to score in August.

"It was amusing when I heard him the other day because I know Pep very well", the Argentine said during his Bournemouth pre-match press conference.

"I'm disrespectful?" he responded, before looking down at his desk and shaking his head.

"I think it's a sad comment because the players laugh about that".

The comment came while referencing other teams that could potentially challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.

The 21-year-old, who has featured seven times for the North Londoners so far this term, with two of those in the starting line-up, has somewhat flown under the radar of most following the successes of fellow team-mates Harry Kane and Dele Alli in recent terms. I have a lot of friends - Mikel Arteta, Lorenzo Buenaventura, Eduardo Mauri - all his staff are very good friends of mine before they met him. "I gave a lot of credit to Tottenham, because last season they finished better than us and that means a lot".

'I spoke many times to Mauricio.

Been a good week of training.

Guardiola famously clashed with United boss Jose Mourinho during the latter's tenure at Real Madrid - a feud he alluded to here - but appeared in no mood to spark a fresh war of words.

Pochettino said on Friday that Guardiola struggles to "be a gentleman" after a victory. "I did it because he scored two goals more against Huddersfield and he got more with the national team", he added. I think it's the same.

"I don't know what he said, but I was never disrespectful about my colleagues".

"Maybe I can answer something where I attack my team or my club, but never would I be disrespectful about Mauricio or Tottenham". "It's over, so that's all".

Could there be a budding rivalry between Premier League managers?
