Ex-Democratic National Committee head says Hillary was nearly replaced

Ex-Democratic National Committee head says Hillary was nearly replaced

Brazile claimed in an excerpt from her soon-to-be-released book that Clinton's campaign had control over the DNC's pocketbook and strategy in exchange for paying down the Party's 2012 presidential campaign debt, explaining that the Party skewed the primary in Clinton's favor through backroom financial deals so she could easily beat Bernie Sanders.

Brazile, a longtime Clinton friend and ally, was stunned by what happened after the Ground Zero event and the "shameful" fact that she and everyone else had been kept in the dark about the candidate's health.

And two of the Sanders campaign's former top officials say they were never specifically offered one like Clinton's and had no knowledge of their rival campaign's arrangement.

Her allegations have convulsed the party as it struggles to rebuild, and whipped up accusations of cheating from President Donald Trump.

An excerpt of the book was published in Politico. Tim Kaine of Virginia, with Biden and Sen.

Brazile writes that she considered a dozen combinations to replace the nominees and settled on Biden and Sen. She purportedly thought they had the best potential to win over working-class voters and defeat Republican nominee Donald Trump, according to the book review. Debbie Wasserman Schultz "was not a good manager" and that "she let Clinton's headquarters in Brooklyn do as it desired so she didn't have to inform the party officers how bad the situation was".

DNC rules do not appear to allow the chairperson to select a new nominee unilaterally - that has to be done through national committee members - and only then in the case of a vacancy through the case of death or a person voluntarily giving up the nomination.

"I thought of Hillary, and all the women in the country who were so proud of and excited about her".

The same offer was made to all candidates, Clinton allies have argued in countering Brazile, but only Clinton took advantage of it. "Well, why aren't they going after Hillary Clinton with her emails and with her, the dossier?"

However, after several hours of serious contemplation, Brazile writes that she could not drag the party through such an ugly process, and that even public consideration of replacing Clinton was unacceptable.
