Christmas cards sought for 9-year-old ME boy battling cancer

Christmas cards sought for 9-year-old ME boy battling cancer

He has been bravely fighting the disease since February 2014.

The cards should be sent to Jacob at Maine Medical Center, 22 Bramhall St., Portland, ME 04102.

In her post Simard wrote that "his father, Roger and myself have been told that we should be spending as much time as possible with him and we should start making arrangements for his passing".

How cute is that young man?! "He smiles as he opens them and does his trademark "nose scrunch" to let us know he's happy", said a statement from Jacob's family.

According to the GoFundMe page set up by Jacob's mother, the family admitted him to Barbara Bush Children's Hospital on October 11 with the understanding that he would pass away within a month.

His room will be decorated with a tree and lights. Santa Claus also will be there. Word has it the big man will make a trip from the North Pole just to visit Jacob and some of the other kids at the hospital!

Jacob's cancer has spread to various parts of his body and he's mostly bedridden, but that hasn't stopped the Christmas festivities from unfolding.

And only five days after he announced his wish, he has already received more than 100 cards from people all over the country - and even beyond.

In addition to the cards, Jacob's family is working to crowdfund money for his funeral assistance, according to the online fundraiser. Like any 9-year-old boy he wants presents, and cards from his family and friends, he also would love some love from anyone who feels inspired to reach out.

"We were speaking with the medical doctors about if we had time [with him] for the holidays and what the plan was", Simard said.

After Jacob's story spread, people from across the state of ME started sending cards and gifts. "And we want him to know that Christmas wishes come true and that there are good people who care all around the world".
