Dominant Wilder demands unification bout against Joshua

Deontay Wilder sent a message to Anthony Joshua with a spectacular first round knockout win against Bermane Stiverne.

After knocking his opponent out in a brutal first round at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, the USA boxer called out to his British rival: "I declare war on you".

Still Wilder said he respected Stiverne's willingness to accept the challenge.

The one man he didn't knockout was Bermane Stiverne, the same man he fought on Saturday night. "The Bronze Bomber" insists he'd be willing to travel into enemy territory to make it happen, a statement supported by previous plans to fight Alexander Povetkin in Russian Federation before Povetkin was caught taking a banned substance. I know I'm the best, are you up for the test? "Are you up for the test?", asked Joshua.

And it didn't take long for the WBC champion to bang the drum for a mega fight with undefeated WBA (Super), IBF and IBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

But while Wilder's top priority is unification, he made it clear Saturday he won't sit around forever and will take on any opponent who's willing to fight him.

Wilder hopes this win will land him a super fight with Anthony Joshua in a heavyweight showdown the boxing world is dying to see. "No more excuses, let's make the fight happen!" "Make a date, don't wait".

"I have been waiting a long time, I know I am the best".

"They have a great thing going over there but they have to come to fight me".

Stiverne (25-3-1) had taken Wilder the distance in January 2015, but the 39-year-old never came close to doing so again. "If you go to Vegas if they want this fight, they can put up more money then anywhere".

The 32-year-old was quick to get behind his spiteful and rangy jab, snapping Stiverne's head back in the first minute, waiting for the opportunity to bring his punishing right hand into play.

Wilder said: "A king doesn't chase a peasant".

Wilder may lack a name on his record like Wladimir Klitschko, who Joshua stopped in the 11th round in April. I'm saying it because two unbeaten heavyweights, one unified champion, one lineal champion, both over six foot six tall, both over 18 stone.
