Teams visit Manchester City expecting bad refereeing decisions, Arsene Wenger tells talkSPORT

Teams visit Manchester City expecting bad refereeing decisions, Arsene Wenger tells talkSPORT

ARSENE WENGER branded Raheem Sterling a diver after his Arsenal side were beaten by leaders Manchester City.

Wenger was scathing in his review of referee Michael Oliver, with the Frenchman unhappy with the "offside" third City goal that killed the contest after Arsenal had pulled one back.

With the latter two goals coming from a contentious penalty and a situation that could have been deemed offside, Wenger says that the decisions being made by officials are only making it harder to compete with the Sky Blues this season.

The Gunners defeated Manchester City and Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final and final respectively.

"We all know Raheem Sterling can dive well. Last season we lost two offside goals and it has happened again", Wenger is quoted as saying by The Guardian.

He said: "We won in the best way and we deserved by far".

"They tell me it was offside and I don't like to win in that way, so it's like this, but *sometimes Arsenal win in Burnley 0-1 with a hand*".

With 31 points from a possible 33, Guardiola's men are firm title favourites.

City have not responded to Wenger's remarks but Press Association Sport understands the club are very disappointed and surprised, given the Gunners were interested in signing Sterling in the summer.

"It will be hard this season, the way they have started, the way they are on a [winning] run, the quality they have - they will be hard to stop". But you never know. "If on top of that they have decisions at home like that, they will be unstoppable".

He said: "We created a lot of chances and "almost chances".

"But considering it was after a Champions League game, they rest all week, we were so, so exhausted in moments in the game but we were so strong mentally".

And Petit thinks some of the players aren't giving everything they can and believes a lack or organisation makes them a danger to themselves.
