Google's Files Go Smart File Manager has been Accidentally Leaked

Google's Files Go Smart File Manager has been Accidentally Leaked

The app is somewhat similar to Apple's AirDrop, but rather is positioned as a "smart storage manager" that allows users to share, manage and delete files.

This is a beta app, and Google notes that there could be some bugs and issues that arise while using the app. You can't, for example, access the device's root folder or even copy and paste files. OEMs have made it a point to include custom file managers in their ROMs, but with Android 4.4 KitKat, the Documents provider gained basic file management capabilities.

For now, the Play Store link for the app is broken, but Google probably intends to release the app soon. Another additional feature is the ability to transfer files from your phone to a friend's handset in the immediate vicinity. There's a storage tab to show users how much space is available on their device, and a files tab that groups content into different types, like images, video, and audio. You also will notice you can clean the app cache from here and also remove media that you recorded. In fact, it was also noted by one Reddit user that in the Google Play Store the update included the official WhatsApp logo and had a high user rating of 4.2 stars.

So it only makes sense that Google is working on its own version for file transfer between Android devices.

Moreover, it is best to read the description of the app so that you can determine if the features are listed based on your expectations. With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggled on two devices, files can be transferred effortlessly.

So the good news is that this app is available right now through the APK. To use the app, both sender and receiver need to have the app opened and use the Send and Receive file option. It will compile the list from the last month of apps that you have used and not used. Google also set up a new app review procedure to pinpoint violators as early as possible.
