Man rams vehicle into students in Toulouse, arrested

Local media reports citing police say the act was deliberate.

A man "deliberately" rammed his auto into three Chinese students near the southern French city of Toulouse on Friday, injuring one of them seriously, said justice officials, who indicated the attack was not linked to terrorism.

French police clarified however, that the 28-year-old driver is not on a security watch-list and after an investigation the public prosecutor said there are no indications that the auto attack was an act of terrorism.

A vehicle has been driven into three students near the French city of Toulouse, leaving a woman in a serious condition.

The suspect tried to flee the scene but police stopped him.

Initial information about the conditions of the injured - identified by authorities only as Chinese students - conflicted.

A 23-year-old woman was the most seriously injured following the incident outside a college.

They were transferred to Purpan Hospital in Toulouse.

He said he wanted revenge, but did not specify what for.

An attempted murder investigation has been opened, he said.

He said: "At this point, we are looking at the psychiatric profile of the suspect, who was sentenced a dozen times and was subject to probation and care obligations".
