Samsung Could Be Building an Under 5-inch Infinity Display Smartphone

Samsung Could Be Building an Under 5-inch Infinity Display Smartphone

In the spotting, the full specifications of the Galaxy J3 (2018) have been revealed, giving a glimpse of what is in store from Samsung for the first few months of 2018. Assuming this is all true, it'll give Samsung fans an option for an Infinity Display that is cheaper than the existing handsets with this feature.

The worldwide unlocked variant of the Galaxy A5, with model number SM-A530F, will have a 412 x 846 screen and run on Android 7.1.1, stated the report. It runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with the customized TouchWiz UI laid on top. The device includes just 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. The front camera is the same, 5MP unit and both cameras can record 1080p videos. Unfortunately, the 2018 model does not seem to pack too many improvements over the current Galaxy J3 (2017) version. The Galaxy J3 (2017) along with Galaxy J5 (2017) and Galaxy J7 (2017) are launched in May this year. This is purely speculation, but it would be unusual for Samsung to bring the Infinity Display to the Galaxy A5 without doing the same for its larger Galaxy A7 counterpart.

Powering this entry level smartphone from Samsung will be a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor with an ARM Mali-G71 GPU. Strangely, the phone is listed with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, despite the fact that the Galaxy J3 (2017) has a better 13-megapixel snapper.

The smartphone is backed by a 2,400mAh battery and lacks fast charging technology.

The Infinity Display, which Samsung introduced to the world through the Galaxy S8, will also appear in the Galaxy A5 (2018). This patent application by Samsung could perhaps shed some light – it details the operation of a foldable, dual-screen phone.
