Trump trades grade school insults with Kim Jong

Trump trades grade school insults with Kim Jong

In September Kim described Trump as a mentally deranged United States dotard - a word used to refer to a weak and senile old person - whom he would tame with fire.

Trump's visit to Beijing last week Xi reiterated that China would strive for the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula but offered no hint it would change tack on North Korea, with which it fought side by side in the 1950-53 Korean war against USA -led forces.

In an effort to rally global pressure against North Korea's nuclear weapons program, Trump had said during his speech in South Korea on Tuesday, "Do not underestimate us".

Earlier in the day, Kim lashed out at Trump in statement and called him a "dotard", meaning very old person.

Responding to the latest statement, Trump posted a tweet dripping with sarcasm: "Why would Kim Jong-un insult me by calling me 'old, ' when I would NEVER call him 'short and fat?' Oh well, I try so hard to be his friend - and maybe someday that will happen!"

On Aug. 8, Trump threatened the regime with "fire and fury like the world has never seen", leading Kim to say he would consider sending missiles into the waters off the coast of Guam in "mid-August".

After North Korea's Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho addressed the UN General Assembly in September Trump tweeted: "Just heard Foreign Minister of North Korea speak at UN".

North Korea's foreign ministry said of the comments, "Reckless remarks by an old lunatic like Trump will never scare us or stop our advance".

"Every step you take down this dark path increases the peril you face".

"I really believe that it makes sense for North Korea to come to the table and to make a deal", Trump said in a press conference with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

That test would be the 15th ballistic missile test since Trump took office, and the first since September.

The secretive kingdom's state-controlled media service told the North Korean people today how their former countrymen south of the Demilitarised Zone are suffering "untold pains under the USA occupation and domination". Trump fired back hours later in a sarcastic tweet going after the dictator's weight and height.

"Together we have in our power to finally liberate this region and the world from this very serious nuclear menace, but it will require collective action, collective strength and collective devotion to winning the peace", Trump said.
