Call of Duty: WWII Temporarily Drops Dedicates Servers

Call of Duty: WWII Temporarily Drops Dedicates Servers

It was an odd move but it had to be done to due to some adverse effects introduced by Call of Duty WW2's latest Game Update.

Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg explained, while speaking to Newsweek, that Activision wanted to return to the WWII focus of the series's beginning, despite Sledgehammer wanting to make a sequel to the popular and well-received Advanced Warfare.

Through the Call of Duty Endowment Activision has helped a lot of veterans gain high-quality jobs once they leave the military. Despite the first major patch for the game, players are still experiencing online connectivity issues and the Headquarters social space isn't working as intended. That's not going to change as Sledgehammer Games is keeping dedicated servers offline for the time being, while they work to fix a plethora of Call of Duty: WWII problems.

Call of Duty: WWII was meant to be a return to form for publisher Activision's flagship game franchise but its launch has been marred with errors and rampant server issues. While playing on the Xbox One Sunday evening we saw several disconnects that are typical of a P2P server environment when a host migration fails. We've begun to test dedicated servers today in the US. The issue has apparently been isolated though, and the problem-solving patch that Sledgehammer said they'd release yesterday will hopefully result in an improved experience for everyone involved. Getting the dedicated servers back up and running is the most important task on Sledgehammer's list for now, but Headquarters improvements are on the way.

On dedicated servers, the post continues: "This weekend we rolled out various test solutions in limited markets in order to fully analyze real-world conditions without risking disruption". So hang in there while we address the most pressing concerns first. This issue also caused loss of data so players will surely be happy when this update rolls out. "We won't rest until we resolve everything we can for the community", said Sledgehammer.

KitGuru Says: It's still early days for Call of Duty: WWII but these issues should have been discovered before its release.
