Pradyuman case: 'Ashok was beaten up, tortured by police for confession'

Pradyuman case: 'Ashok was beaten up, tortured by police for confession'

Ashok Kumar, the bus conductor first accused of the murder of Pradyuman Thakur, a class II student of Ryan International School in Gurgaon, has been released for jail.

Speaking up after Ashok returned home from jail, his wife said the Gurgaon Police "hung him upside down, tortured him and even sedated him (in order to get him) to confess (to killing Pradyuman)". He also also told that there has been havoc all over India because of the murder and he must take responsibility of it. They told him that the whole nation is distressed due to the case and so he must confess.

With Ashok's release, there were reports which claimed that the bus conductor, in all likelihood, might file a defamation case against the police officers who tried to "frame" him.

The bail was granted as the CBI could not submit any evidence against the bus conductor. It seems more information about the case will be made available soon, as the authorities take charge of the situation.

Pradhuman was found with his throat slit in the toilet of the school in Bhondsi, Gurgaon, on September 8.

"The police asked Ashok to utter, he committed the crime and he won't be in trouble because of that". According to the police, Ashok was accused of slitting the throat of the student. "DNA has not matched with the blood sample of the killer's blood which was found on Pradyuman's clothes", said Verma.

"The bail was granted under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution, which states that everyone has the right to personal liberty and life", said Advocate Anil Sharma, who was present in the court on behalf of Ashok's lawyer Mohit Verma.

A local court released him on bail this week after the Central Bureau of Investigation, which was handed over the probe, said it did not have any evidence to support the theory that Kumar was involved in killing Pradyuman.

The victim's family demanded that the juvenile student should be treated as an adult and given a harsh punishment.
