Google is Fixing Its Faux Pas Cheeseburger Emoji

Google is Fixing Its Faux Pas Cheeseburger Emoji

All's well that ends well, as every cheeseburger emoji out there is now properly following regulations and have their cheese on top of the burger patty, from Apple's take to Samsung's, though the Cupertino brand does have the lettuce on top of the bottom bun, which could come across as kind of weird for some. Emojis are, however, not the only changes in Android 8.1 Developer Preview 2.

Emojipedia broke the news update on Twitter, after the 44-year-old tech tycoon had delivered his promise.

When someone on Twitter called out Google for the cheese placement in the cheeseburger emoji, it sparked a little debate on whether cheese should be over or under the patty. Google has now corrected it and it now contains liquid all the way to the top. Since then it has been up to the companies to decide if they want to place the cheese, lettuce, tomato, meat patty and more at different positions.

WHEW, Google fixed the burger emoji in Android 8.1

Now the consensus is that the slice of cheese should be on top of the patty, and Google has straightened things out in Android 8.1 Oreo, according to Emojipedia.

Besides, Google has also refreshed a few more emojis.

This may seem like a very small issue to worry about but people were reacting so much over on the emoji that Pichai was forced to issue a statement. It got intense to the point when Google CEO Sundar Pichai himself got involved, promising that they would drop everything to look into that matter (that was a joke if you didn't get it). Apart from correcting the burger emoji, Google has also updated its beer emoji. Later, Google also served "Android burgers" to its employees at its Seattle office. Another emoji that has been fixed is of the cheese, which now has refined edges on the holes and readjusted colour tone. The beer emoji previously contained drink filled to the half, but froth to the brim - nullifying all physical laws.
