New Lawsuit Claims Harvey Weinstein Violated Federal Trafficking Laws

New Lawsuit Claims Harvey Weinstein Violated Federal Trafficking Laws

The federal lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, also claims that Weinstein took part in sex-trafficking, as he traveled between the U.S., London and France, where the assault occurred.

Her lawsuit claims Harvey Weinstein asked her to his Le Majestic hotel room in Cannes in 2014 "to review her reel with her and discuss further steps in securing the role he had previously targeted for her".

"Kadian has suffered severe injuries and emotional distress, pain and suffering, mental anguish, inconvenience, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, inability to lead a normal life, shame and humiliation", lawyer Stuart Mermelstein writes.

The actress is now suing The Weinstein Co. for damages from the assault, with Noble alleging that Weinstein told her, "Everything will be taken care of for you if you relax", after attempting to fight back against the mogul.

The company violated US sex trafficking law by "benefiting from, and knowingly facilitating, the venture in which Harvey Weinstein traveled in foreign commerce to recruit or entice female actors into forced or coerced sexual encounters on the promise of roles", states the lawsuit. "Harvey Weinstein ultimately forced Kadian into sexual acts". "He was someone that I thought was going to make my dream a reality", Noble said of her former thoughts of the mogul.

What followed was Weinstein allegedly calling a TWC producer and after putting Noble on the line, "The TWC producer told [Noble] that she needed to be "a good girl and do whatever [Weinstein] wished, ' and if she did, then 'they would work" with her further".

The lawsuit then describes the alleged assault, including Weinstein pulling down the actress' shirt, "revealing her breasts", while unbuckling his trousers and belt.

Hollywood and beyond have been rocked by the scandal, with producer Harvey Weinstein now under police investigation for a wide range of sexual misconduct allegations.

However, at the same time, Noble felt compelled to comply with Harvey Weinstein's demands because of the tangible and intangible benefits he offered to advance her career, according to the suit.

"Upon information and belief, the code word among TWC employees 'FOH, ' meant 'Friend of Harvey, ' and referred to a young woman who had participated in sex in exchange for a an upcoming project", the complaint states.

Weinstein has unequivocally denied all allegations of non-consensual sex.

The Weinstein Company did not reply to a request for comment from HuffPost.
