Randi Zuckerberg Says She Was Sexually Harassed On Flight, Airline Ignored Complaints

Randi Zuckerberg Says She Was Sexually Harassed On Flight, Airline Ignored Complaints

In an email to the airline's top brass, the sister of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg described an "extremely uncomfortable situation" while traveling from Los Angeles to Mazatlan. She said they told her not to take it personally since he doesn't have a filter.

In the letter written to the executives of the Seattle-based airline, Zuckerberg explained how a male passenger sitting next to her kept hurling lewd sexual remarks at her and the airline employees didn't care to interfere. She was asked if she had sexual fantasies about her travel partner by the man next to her, who continued to make vulgar comments as other female passengers got on the flight.

But the incident only became more infuriating when flight attendants allegedly brushed off his behavior, claiming he's a regular flier.

Not only that, the flight attendants even came by Zuckerberg's seat several times and "sweetly asked the passenger" if he is behaving himself today. She said the airline has launched a "thorough investigation", though she did not say whether the person had been temporarily barred from flights as Zuckerberg said on Wednesday.

Randi Zuckerberg just called out Alaska Airlines in a very public letter that will probably be trending soon on Facebook, the little website that her brother runs.

"What Randi Zuckerberg shared with us is very disturbing", the spokesman, Mr Ray Lane, said. "Once Ms Zuckerberg told flight attendants about this man's behaviour, they should have moved him to a different seat or ejected him from the airplane".

A spokesman for Alaska Airlines said on Thursday that it was "fully investigating" the encounter and that two airline executives had talked to Ms Zuckerberg about her flight. She said she nearly accepted the offer until she decided against it, thinking she should not have to move since she was the one being harassed.

She said flight staff offered that she could move from first class to a seat in the back of the plane.

"The safety and well-being of our guests and employees is our number one priority", Schneider said in the post. "As a company, we have zero tolerance for any type of sexual misconduct that creates an unsafe environment for our guests and crew members", the airline reportedly said.
