Cavs announce Derrick Rose has returned

Cavs announce Derrick Rose has returned

After a self-imposed exile, Derrick Rose flew to Cleveland on Monday morning and will resume rehabilitation on his sprained ankle, clearing the way for his eventual return to the Cavaliers' active roster.

Now rehabilitating an ankle injury that was suffered in the Cavaliers' second game of the season on October 20, Rose's return date remains uncertain.

On Saturday, LeBron James said he hadn't spoken to Rose since he left the team last month, however, the team would welcome him with open arms.

"This has been a very challenging and hard time for Derrick", Cavs General Manager Koby Altman said in the statement. His status will be updated "when he reaches the point of returning to play", it read.

Rose injured the ankle October 20 at Milwaukee and has missed several games.

Rose's career has been slowed by knee injuries.

In the absence of the 29-year-old, the Cavaliers have been red-hot having reeled off 11 straight wins.

"Whenever he's ready to tell us or whatever, we're ready for that", James said. Support him in whatever he's going through, and we're going to be a shield for him if he wants to use us. He was fined by the Knicks and apologized to his teammates when he returned the next day. Fantasy owners can ignore him anyways with his averages of 14.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.3 steals and 0.4 triples, and Isaiah Thomas (hip) is due back soon anyways. After earning almost $117 million in National Basketball Association salary in his first nine season, the Chicago product is playing 2017-18 on a one-year, veteran's minimum deal for $2.1 million.
