Robin Wright to take over House of Cards final season

Robin Wright to take over House of Cards final season

Taping of the political drama was halted in October amid sexual misconduct allegations against star Spacey. The final season will be shorter, with just eight episodes.

Speaking Monday at UBS' Global Media and Communication Conference, he added the order would provide "some closure to the show for fans".

Netflix will resume production of House of Cards' sixth season early next year, and the final season of the popular show will not include Kevin Spacey. It looks like the main focus will now be on Robin Wright's character in these last episodes.

As previously reported, the Star Trek: Discovery actor claimed in an interview with BuzzFeed News published on October 29 that the House of Cards star, 58, made unwanted sexual advances toward him at a party in 1986. In the Michael Dobbs book that inspired the Netflix series, Frank's character dies. It was considered likely that Spacey would be written out of the show.

The final season was originally billed as 13 episodes, with production already having been completed on the initial two at the time Spacey's scandal ignited.

When the news of Kevin's firing hit the mainstream press, Rapp wrote on Twitter that he was "very gratified" to learn that the people who worked on House Of Cards can continue their work. Sarandos said he was gratified to have reached the deal for the team of 370 people who directly work on the show and for "the 2,000 people in Baltimore" who have jobs working on "HOC".

On Nov. 26, Media Rights Capital announced that it had extended its production hiatus for another two weeks until December 8.

House of Cards was Netflix's first original series order.

Netflix also decided not to move forward with a film starring Spacey as Gore Vidal.
