Manchester City Have Given Manchester United A Ray Of Hope - Gary Neville

Manchester City have already finished first in their group but have taken a full strength squad for the last game of this stage of the Champions League, all the way to Ukraine.

Jose Mourinho aimed a thinly-veiled dig at rivals Pep Guardiola and Arséne Wenger while offering an update on injuries after Manchester United's 2-1 Champions League win over CSKA Moscow.

Gary Neville believes Manchester City have offered Manchester United "a ray of hope" in the Premier League title race. It did, however, contribute to their first loss of the season.

Manchester City restored their eight-point gap over Manchester United on Sunday thanks to David Silva's late victor against West Ham United.

However, according to Sky Italia the Catalan has sent an SMS message to Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri, promising him that City will give their "maximum effort" to beat Shakhtar and make it six wins out of six in Group F. "But the teams have been playing closed, we have had difficulty finding the spaces there, because there are a lot of people in front of the box". Their first goal was magnificent, and the second goal we didn't defend that well. I think it's going to be a spectacle. City eventually finished third as United trailed home in sixth place, but Mourinho could reflect on the season with greater satisfaction after leading his team to a League Cup and Europa League double.

The result brought City's long unbeaten run to an end after 28 matches and ended a sequence of 20 successive wins.

Silva, who last month signed a one-year contract extension until 2020, has been sensational in that run, scoring twice and laying on eight assists as Guardiola's side have set about dismantling Premier League opposition at will.

"United will be confident going into the game because of what has happened this weekend for City, even though it has been a good week for City too, as they've scored three late winners and have taken maximum points".

"You have to try to solve it (when teams pack the defence)". No stories of Lacazette or David Silva.
