Pizza Hut Testing Delivery of Beer and Wine

Pizza Hut Testing Delivery of Beer and Wine

You can order Bud Light, Budweiser, Shock Top and Arizona-made Kilt Lifter.

All options will cost customers a flat $10.99 for the six-pack.

"We're excited to offer the convenience of beer and wine delivered to a customer's home", said Stacy Lynn Bourgeois, Pizza Hut's director of brand marketing, in an interview with CNNMoney. The company plans to expand its alcohol delivery service beyond Phoenix shortly. It's still undecided whether or not Pizza Hut will deliver full bottles of wine or single servings.

Pizza Hut is thinking outside of the pizza box in an effort to boost sales.

On Tuesday, the Yum subsidiary began to test beer delivery in the Phoenix area, with the hopes to add wine to its booze delivery offerings as soon as January.

During October, the company announced its new delivery system that promises to keep pies hotter.

The inclusion of alcohol may help the pizza chain in its competition with others like Papa John's or Domino's, which only offer water and soft drinks for delivery. Bourgeois added that Pizza Hut stores will need a license to distribute alcohol and delivery drivers must be 21 or older to deliver the goods.

Rival Papa John's worldwide sells beer and wine at a handful of locations in the western United States and at locations in Latin America, China and Russian Federation. Lastly, you will need to show ID upon delivery, so rowdy teens can not order a bunch of beer and expect to get it with no trouble.
