White House: Dry Throat Caused Donald Trump Word Slurring; Exam Scheduled

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders began Thursday's briefing by reading a story about Christmas to the White House press corps.

Dry throat caused President Donald Trump to slur his words during Wednesday's speech announcing he will move the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders insisted at Thursday's press briefing.

Viewers speculated that the muddled words may be a sign he has a medical problem.

"The President's throat was dry, nothing more than that", she said.

Trump noticeably slurred the final words and people started to theorize that he may have been wearing dentures or some other form of dental prosthetics.

Modern presidents have been examined by military doctors every year or two, and Trump has not yet disclosed any doctors' visits while in office.

At age 70, Trump was the oldest president elected to his first term.

Records of the medical exam would be made public by the physician upon completion, Mrs. Sanders said.

When asked about Trump's apparent verbal slip, a White House spokesperson told the media outlet Quartz that Trump had a case of "dry mouth".

Trump also discussed his health during a taping of The Dr Oz Show, a television talk show. "But I'd be happy to share any information".

Trump regularly ridiculed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton over health concerns during the 2016 campaign, repeatedly questioning her stamina and strength.
